Presented is a near-complete set of T79 "Military Series" consisting of seventy-nine different cards (out of one hundred in the set). Included are twenty-one duplicates. Issued with three different tobacco brands circa 1910, each card features a beautifully rendered multi-color illustration of military men from seventeen countries around the world. Included are twenty-one duplicates. This near set consists primarily of Fez Cigarettes advertising backs (83), with the scarcer Tolstoi (12) and Lenox (5) brands comprising the balance. The condition of the near-complete set is 37% Vg-Ex to Ex (approximately two-thirds Vg-Ex), 47% Gd to Vg, and 16% Pr to Fr. Three cards have been professionally graded and encapsulated by PSA. Keys: Aide-De-Camp-Bulgaria (POOR 1), Officer of Field Artillery-Italy (FAIR 1.5), Rifelman, Austria (upside-down and off-center Tolstoi back, otherwise Ex+), and Royal Engineers-Private-Gr. Brit. (GOOD 2). Missing the following twenty-one cards for completion: Captain of Infantry-USA, Lieutenant of Infantry-USA/white, Private of Infantry-USA/facing forward, West Point Cadet-Officer-USA, General-Bulgaria, Officer of Mountain Artillery-France, Kings Royal Rifle Corps-Great Britain, Horse Artillery-Great Britain, Sharpshooter-Greece, Officer of Cuirassiers-Italy, Major of Cavalry-Japan, Army Surgeons-Prussia, Life Guards Hussars-Prussia, Major of Trumpeters-Prussia, General-Roumania, Private of Dragoon Reg’t-Russia, Private of Life-Guards Sharpshooters-Russia, Chasseur-Spain, Riding Master-Spain, Officer of Engineers-Sweden, and Sapper Zouave Guards-Turkey.
