Description

Attractive mid- to high-grade near-complete set of twenty-nine different 1963 Kahn's Wieners cards (out of 30 in the set), highlighted by Hall of Famers Bill Mazeroski and Frank Robinson. Missing only Roberto Clemente for completion (which is being offered separately in this auction). The 1963 Kahn's set took on a new design from previous years by going slightly larger in size and adding white borders surrounding the black-and white images. The set features players from the Reds and Pirates, but also included are several Yankees and a Cardinals players as well. All twenty-nine cards in the set have been professionally graded and encapsulated by PSA. PSA Grading Composite: NM+ 7.5 (1 card): R. Terry. NM 7 (8 cards): Boyer, Friend, Gibbon, Jay, Nuxhall, O'Toole, F. Robinson, and Stafford. EX-MT+ 6.5 (2 cards): Burgess and Cardenas. EX-MT 6 (15 cards): Bailey, Blasingame, Coleman, Edwards, Freese, Haddix, Howard, Kasko, Lynch, Maloney, Mazeroski, Pinson, Purkey, Richardson, and Virdon. EX 5 (3 cards): Clendenon, Groat, and Kubek. This is a very bright and crisp near-complete set (minus one) of this popular and attractive issue. Kahn's Wieners cards are far rarer than most 1960s baseball cards, and are one of the few food issues of the era. Total: 29 cards. The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot.
