Presented is a partial set (29/50) of W469 "Sports Champions" Exhibits issued in 1948-1949. The set features champions and stars of the day from a wide variety of sports. This is one of the few vintage multi-sport card sets from the era, and also one of the rarest of all Exhibit card sets. Highlights include many of the greatest names in the history of sport. Included are two duplicates (Button/dark shirt and Miles). Condition is 16% Vg-Ex to Ex, 67% Gd to Vg, and 17% Pr to Fr. Keys: Baugh (Vg), Doug & Max Bentley (Gd+), Graham (Vg), Henie (Fr), Luckman (Vg), Lujack (Vg), Man 'O War (Pr), Mikan (Vg+), Turner (Vg), Van Buren (Vg+), and Young (Vg). Missing the following twenty-one exhibits for completion: Allen, Citation, J. Cobb, Conacher, Day, Dempsey, Dillard, Dobbs, Fulks, Gauden, Gaudin, Hogan, Lewis, Lombardo, Louis, Mathias, Motley, Paddock, Phillip, Waterfield, and Wier. This is a very attractive, consistent, and mostly mid-grade partial set of one of card collecting's most overlooked and substantial multisport issues.
