Description

Complete set of one of the 1960s' great classics: 1961 Post Cereal. This complete set of 200 cards is composed of both company cards (7%, perforated cards available on sheets directly from Post via mail-in offer, including a few that have been trimmed rather than detached by hand) and box cards (93%, available on cereal boxes and intended to be hand-cut). Condition is 5% Nr/Mt or better, 34% Ex to Ex-Mt, 50% Vg to Vg-Ex, and 11% lesser. The preceding grades, as well as those in the composite below, are without respect to the neatness of the cut of box cards, as many of them are cut inside of the borders and would qualify for only "Authentic" if submitted for professional grading. Keys: #1 Berra (Ex, box), 4 Mantle (Vg, box), 7 Maris (Ex, box), 10 McDougald (Pr, box), 22 Wynn (Nr/Mt, company), 23 Shaw (Vg+, box), 35 Kaline (Vg+, box), 73 Estrada (Ex, company), 75 B. Robinson (Ex, box), 92 Killebrew (Gd, box), 93 J. Lemon (Vg-Ex, box), 94 Stobbs (Ex-Mt, company), 106 Mathews (trimmed through perforations and pen mark on reverse, otherwise Vg+, company), 107 Aaron (Ex, box), 132 Clemente (Nr/Mt+, company), 135 Virdon (Fr-Gd, box), 145 Mays (Ex, box), 147 McCovey (Ex, box), 163 Roach (Gd, box), 167 Snider (Gd, box), 182 F. Robinson (small ink marks on front, otherwise Vg, box), 183 McMillan (Gd+, box), 191 Banks (small ink marks on front, otherwise Nr/Mt, box), and 193 Thomas (Vg, box). This is a very attractive complete set of this scarce package-design issue, which is underrated, and compared to other sets of the era, extremely difficult to find as a set. Total: 200 cards.
