Description

Reach "Official Champions League" baseball signed in blue ink by 24 members of the 1958 San Francisco Giants (the team's first season on the West Coast), including Mays, Cepeda (sweet spot), Alou (rookie season), Gomez, Bressoud, Lockman, Grissom, Spencer, Testa (played in one game for the Giants in 1958 and his entire MLB career), Schmidt, Sauer, Davenport, Monzant, Jablonski, Shipley, Giel, Antonelli, King, Thomas, McCormack, Worthington, Miller, and Speake. The signature example of Bill Rigney that appears on the sweet spot is a stamp (common for Rigney). The Giants’ first year in San Francisco saw them finish 80–74, good for third place in the National League under manager Bill Rigney. Willie Mays starred with a .347 average, 29 homers, and 96 RBI, while rookie Orlando Cepeda won NL Rookie of the Year with 25 home runs. The team played at Seals Stadium and showcased a strong young core that hinted at future contention, combining established stars with rising talent to make their West Coast debut a successful transition season. The ball displays a couple spots of discoloration. In Excellent to Mint condition overall. Auction LOA from James Spence/JSA.
