Six uncut sheets of 1947 W602 Sports Exchange Baseball Miniatures cards, each featuring six cards, representing the complete subset of 36 cards from the "green border" series. This series was designed and released in three different series (red, green, or gold borders) by The Trading Post, one of the hobby's first periodicals, for just a $1 a series. Naturally, these are rare to find in complete-sheet form as originally issued. This is a fascinating set that with the many Hall of Famers and stars, current and past, the number of noteworthy cards in this set rivals the number of common cards. Highlighted by Lou Gehrig, Honus Wagner, Joe DiMaggio, Stan Musial, Lefty Grove, Pee Wee Reese, Bill Dickey, and many more. The sheets (each measure 7 x 10 inches) feature black-and-white images of the players with their name below and the text "Baseball Miniatures - - - - Sheet Number" printed vertically along the right border. Interior cards including Gehrig and DiMaggio are Nr/Mt-Mt. All the sheets have a light crease (in the same area most likely from storage) and moderate corner wear; all are still overall in Excellent condition. W602 is a very substantial set. It also represents one of the very few sets issued in the 1940s. W602 cards are beginning to be recognized for the outstanding value they represent compared with most other vintage cards. Total: 6 sheets representing 36 cards.
