Remarkable oversized team composite display featuring portrait images of 16 members of the 1887 Ottawa College football club (the Gee-Gees). Each member is pictured in formal attire and is identified in print (first initial and last name only) below his respective image. The players represented here are O'Malley (Captain), Guillet, T. Murphy, Kehoe, Mahoney, Devine, J. Murphy, Hughes, McDonald, Mason, French, Kavanagh, Hillman, Delaney, McCauley, and Ouimet. This display was issued to commemorate Ottawa winning the Dominion championship in 1887, one of six titles captured by the club from 1887 to 1901. The photographer's credit ("Pittaway & Jarvis") is printed in the lower right. The piece has a very impressive overall appearance and a high production value, making it ideal for display. Measuring 13-3/4 x 16 inches and produced on thicker card stock, the piece is in overall Very Good to Excellent condition from the front, with brilliant contrast and light wear along the edges and corners. The blank reverse has damage from at time being mounted in a frame. This fascinating display would be at home in even the most advanced football collection. The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot.
