Description

Scarce team composite cabinet card featuring portrait images of 16 members of the 1888 Ottawa College football club (the Gee-Gees). Each member is pictured in formal attire and is identified in print (first initial and last name only) below his respective image. The players represented here are O'Brien, Curran, McCauley, Fitzpatrick, Kehoe, Cbaitlain, McDonell, Labrecque, Cormier, Murphy, Fallon (manager), MacDonald, Devine, Hillman, Guillet, and McDonald. This cabinet was issued to commemorate Ottawa winning the Dominion championship in 1888, one of six titles captured by the club from 1887 to 1901. The photographer's credit is lettered along the base. The cabinet (4.25 x 6.5 inches) is in Very Good to Excellent condition overall, with brilliant contrast and light wear along the black borders. The blank reverse is mainly clean.
