Lot # 1145: Extremely Rare 1954 Alaga Syrup Promotional Postcard Willie Mays

Beautiful example of an extremely rare 1954 promotional postcard for Alaga Syrup featuring Hall of Famer Willie Mays, who is pictured smiling in uniform (New York Giants) with the lettering "Your Friend - Willie Mays" printed along the base. In endorsement of the product, the text on the reverse reads: "Willie Mays says: 'I was raised on Alaga Syrup.'" This is the first example of this promotional postcard we have offered in the past 22 years! As a point of reference, a PSA Authentic example recently sold at public auction for over $14,000 in 2024. This postcard has superb clarity and contrast and light corner wear. The address area on the reverse has the name Willie Mays scripted three times in blue ink (deemed as secretarial). An outstanding piece worthy of any Willie Mays collection. Please note SGC declined to encapsulate this card due to the presence of the secretarial signatures.
