Description

Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. Highest-graded example! Original unopened wax pack of 1962 Topps "Baseball Bucks." This one-cent pack contains one folded "buck." "Baseball Bucks" were not an "insert" issue; they were sold and packaged on their own, and in very limited quantities. In many ways, this set could be described as one of Topps' earliest "test' sets. This extremely unusual set features player portraits on dollar bills measuring approximately 4-1/8 x 1-3/4 inches. A short piece of biographical information is printed to the left of the image, along with a facsimile signature, and the player's home stadium is printed to the right. On the reverse are the team and league logos. Sixty-two players are depicted on $1 bills, twenty-four stars (including Aaron, Clemente, and Koufax) are depicted on $5 bills, and ten superstars (including Mantle, Maris, and Mays) are depicted on $10 bills. This is a particularly rare unopened wax pack, the first we have ever handled, from this very popular and unusual 1960s Topps set.
