Presented is an outstanding Callahan Hall of Fame near-complete set (65 out of 82), plus the original box. Issued annually from 1950 to 1956, the Callahan Hall of Fame card set was the official set of the Hall of Fame. It was updated each year until 1956 with the inductees from that year as well as some corrections and updates. The end result is an 82-card basic set and a 91-card master set (including nine cards with two variations). The cards released in the later years of the set are very rare. This offering is missing the following seventeen cards for completion: Baker, Barrow, Bender, Chandler, Connolly, Dickey, DiMaggio, Hartnett, Klem, Lyons, Maranville, Schalk, Terry, Vance, Wallace, H. Wright, and Museum Interior. Almost every card in the set is a pack-fresh gem with perfect gloss. Condition is 57% Nr/Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt, 38% Ex to Ex-Mt, and 5% Vg to Vg-Ex. Keys: Cobb (Nr/Mt), Gehrig (Ex+), W. Johnson (Nr/Mt), Mathewson (Ex-Mt), Ruth (Nr/Mt), and Wagner (Nr/Mt). The original box accompanying the set grades Vg due to creases. This is a superb high-grade near set of one of card collecting's most overlooked 1950s issues. Total: 65 cards plus box.
