Lot # 39: 1889 N172 Old Judge Buck Ewing and Mascot - SGC

Extremely desirable 1889 N172 Old Judge card featuring one of the most unusual and memorable images to ever appear on a baseball card: New York Hall of Famer Buck Ewing and the New York Giants mascot, Willie Breslin (Ewing & Mascot, N. Y's). In addition to being a very desirable Hall of Famer, the pose of this card makes it one of the most interesting images to appear in the Old Judge set. The youngster is dressed in a miniature New York Giants uniform, true to form in every detail to those worn by the players. The mascot was even popular enough to warrant his own card in the 1887 Goodwin set (and was also issued in the N173 Old Judge large cabinet series). Encapsulated as Authentic by SGC due to being trimmed.
