The 1962 Topps set has a well-deserved reputation for being the era's most condition-sensitive issue. The flush-to-the-border brown wood-grain design of the 1962 Topps set makes this issue particularly susceptible to edge and corner wear and makes the assembly of high-grade sets all the more difficult. This is a very attractive mid- to high-grade complete set of this classic set, which includes all the great stars of the era. This particular set also includes nine significant variations (#129, 132, three 139, 147, 174, 176, and 190) and 14 green-tint variations (#114, 116, 120, 122, 126, 133, 140, two 149, 150 Kaline, 175, 182, 185, and 191). Also includes two duplicates (#385 Wynn and 436) and four signed cards (#7 Thomas, 93 Blanchard, 357 Walker, and 382 D. Williams). A total of 152 cards have been professionally graded and encapsulated by PSA (142), SGC (9), and BVG (1). PSA Grading Composite: MINT 9 (1 card): #580 (OC). NM-MT+ 8.5 (1 card): #401 Maris/Cepeda (BVG). This is a very impressive 1962 Topps set, far superior to the average set of this very condition-sensitive issue. The equivalent SMR value for just 147 of the graded cards (not including the five PSA-qualified cards) is $9,918. Total: 623 cards (complete set of 598 plus 23 variations and two duplicates). Auction LOA from James Spence/JSA (for the four signed cards). The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot.
