Complete 1951 Topps "Red Backs" set, including both variations of #36 Zernial and 52 Holmes. The landmark "Red Backs" set is extremely significant as this was one of the first major baseball-card sets ever issued by Topps. Condition is 31% Ex to Ex-Mt (including four better), 48% Vg to Vg-Ex, and 21% lesser. Keys: #1 Berra (Vg), 5 Rizzuto (Gd), 6 Reynolds (Ex), 8 Wynn (Vg), 15 Kiner (Vg), 20 D. DiMaggio (Ex-Mt), 22 Feller (Ex), 30 Spahn (Ex), 31 Hodges (Fr), 36a Zernial/Chicago (Vg+), 36b Zernial/Philadelphia (Ex-Mt), 38 Snider (Vg-Ex), 39 Kluszewski (Vg), 50 Irvin (Gd), 52a Holmes/Boston (Vg), and 52b Holmes/Hartford (Fr). This set represents Topps' first major effort in the baseball-card business. The 1951 "Red Backs" Topps set is among the most significant, yet overlooked, of all early Topps cards, and in our opinion represents an extraordinary value. Total: 54 cards.
