Description

Complete 1951 Topps "Red Backs" set of fifty-two cards. The landmark "Red Backs" set is extremely significant as this was one of the first major baseball-card sets ever issued by Topps. Also included are both variations, making this a complete 54-card master set. Condition is 46% Gd to Vg and 54% Pr to Fr (including one altered). Keys: #1 Berra (Fr), 5 Rizzuto (Vg+), 6 Reynolds (Vg-Ex+), 8 Wynn (Pr), 15 Kiner (Pr-Fr), 20 D. DiMaggio (Pr-Fr), 22 Feller (Gd), 30 Spahn (Fr), 31 Hodges (Gd), 36a Zernial/Chicago (Pr), 36b Zernial/Philadelphia (Vg), 38 Snider (Pr), 39 Kluszewski (Fr), 50 Irvin (erasure marks on borders, otherwise Nr/Mt), 52a Holmes/Boston (Gd+) and 52b Holmes/Hartford (Gd). This set represents Topps' first major effort in the baseball-card business. The 1951 "Red Backs" Topps set is among the most significant, yet overlooked, of all early Topps cards, and in our opinion represents an extraordinary value. Total: 54 cards.
