Eclectic collection of 697 cards from ten Topps football sets spanning the years 1968 through 1974 (including a couple of non-Topps issues from the early 1980s) including six complete sets. The collection is highlighted by scores of stars and Hall of Famers, including Joe Namath, Johnny Unitas, Bart Starr, and Walter Payton. This is a fascinating group of unusual vintage cards primarily composed of overlooked "oddball" and insert issues with many interesting highlights. This collection consists of the following: 1) 1968 Topps Stand-Ups Complete Set (22): Ranging from Vg-Ex to Ex-Mt (averaging Ex). Keys: Karras (25/75 L/R, otherwise Ex-Mt), Jurgensen (Ex), Little (Ex-Mt due mostly to centering), Meredith (Ex+), and Namath (Vg-Ex).Missing only Sonny Jurgensen for completion. 2) 1968 Topps Football Posters Complete Set (16) Plus 40 Duplicates: 57% Vg to Vg-Ex (including one better) and 43% lesser. Key: #1 Unitas (10/90 T/B, otherwise Vg-Ex). The duplicates consist of the following: #1 Unitas (Gd+), 2 Kelly, five 5 Taylor, nine 7, five 9, two 10, five 11, four 12, 13, five 14 Maynard, and two 15 Dawson. 3) 1969 Topps Football 4-in-1 Near-Complete Set (65/66) Plus One Duplicate and Complete Set of Albums (26): Condition of the near set is 59% Nr/Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt, 33% Ex to Ex-Mt (approximately two-thirds Ex-Mt), and 8% slightly lesser. Condition of the albums is Vg-Ex to Ex overall, with a couple slightly higher and lower. Keys (only key player listed): Csonka (Nr/Mt), Piccolo (Nr/Mt), Starr (Ex-Mt), and Unitas (Vg-Ex). Missing only Joe Namath for completion. 4) 1970 Topps (9 cards): Ranging from Ex to Nr/Mt (averaging Ex-Mt). Includes the following: #64, 65, 66, 67, 68, 69, 70 Sayers (slight trim to bottom edge, otherwise Nr/Mt), 71, and 72 H. Jackson RC. 5) 1970 Topps Football Posters Complete Set (24) Plus 23 Duplicates: Vg to Vg-Ex overall, with 10% lesser. The duplicates consist of the following: #2 Bell, two 5 Brown, two 7 Mack four 9 Robinson, 10 Stenerud, two 14 Wilson, two 15 Hickerson, 16 Alworth, two 20 Tingelhoff, two 22 Warfield, 23 Howley, and 24 Bob Brown. 6) 1971 Topps Football Posters Complete Set (32) Plus 87 Duplicates: 43% Vg to Vg-Ex and 57% lesser. Very attractive oddball and insert football collection loaded with Hall of Famers and stars, representing a particularly outstanding collecting value compared to many other sets from the era.
