Description

Graded VG-EX 4 by PSA. Incredibly scarce R316 Kashin Publications 5 x 7 premium photo of New York Yankees Hall of Famer Babe Ruth. To date, PSA has only graded 81 examples from this issue and only 12 examples of Ruth. According to the Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards, not much is known about this set and its connection, if any, to the R316 Kashin series. These premium photos share images (believed to be done by famed photographer Charles Conlon) with the smaller R316s. There is speculation that Conlon's link may suggest these larger cards were produced by the Spalding company with whom he worked. Whatever the exact origin, this premium remains an incredible specimen of Ruth in a focused, black-and-white batting stance. Bright and crisp, with even corner wear and surface indentions along the bottom border. The blank reverse is mostly clean. This is an outstanding card produced during the height of Ruth's legendary career. It would be a worthy addition to even the most advanced Babe Ruth or prewar-card collection.
