Description

Graded EX 60 by SGC. Cards of Buck Weaver, a member of the infamous 1919 Black Sox, routinely sell for more than Hall of Famers from the same sets in which he appears. Unfortunately for collectors, Weaver appears in very few sets. This is an outstanding example of what is perhaps his most majestic card: the 1911 T212 Obak Cigarettes card, which pictures him with San Francisco of the Pacific Coast League before his Major League playing days with the Chicago White Sox. This is an extremely attractive card of Weaver in full uniform posing with his bat on his shoulder. This card is usually found in far lower grade, and the offered example appears at a glance to be in even stronger condition than its technically accurate grade. The offered card has bright colors, outstanding registration, and light corner wear (weaker lower right). A very tiny particle is visible near Weaver's right eye (toward the left border) noted for accuracy. The red text on the reverse is boldly printed. This is a very strong and extremely attractive example of this early and important Buck Weaver tobacco card.
