Description

Collection of twenty-five exceedingly rare 1978/1979 Topps Baseball wrong-back error cards. While wrong backs have always fascinated card collectors, this collection is particularly intriguing because the fronts and backs are from two different sets (all fronts are 1979 Topps and all backs are 1978 Topps). In this case, the "backs" were applied upside down on the sheet of Topps on which these cards were printed, thus creating misaligned (a bit of the next card is showing on each back) wrong-back errors. Adding to the desirability of this collection, all twenty-five cards exhibit untrimmed, factory-cut edges. Without further reference to the miscut centering on the backs, the condition is 28% Nr/Mt or better and 72% Ex to Ex-Mt (including one Vg-Ex and one with a slight miscut). This collection consists of the following (1979 front/1978 back): Alston/LeFlore, Brogerg/Bonham, Carty/North, two Dilone/D. Murray, Gale/Bird, two Grich/Howe, three Griffin/Rau, three Hartzell/Brusstar, two LaCock/Luzinski, Lansford RC/Rhoden, Patek/Tidrow, two Pattin/Tiant, Porter/Haas, Renko/Matthews, Splittorff/Yeager, and two Wallis/Henderson. This is a very interesting and unusual collection of fifty-one wrong-back error cards, consisting of combined cards from two popular 1970s Topps sets. Total: 25 cards.
