Graded EX 5 by PSA. High-quality example of this significant condition rarity that is also one of New York Yankees Hall of Famer Joe DiMaggio’s most popular cards. Considering the fragile cardboard used in the production of the 1948-1949 Leaf issue and the excessive wear the No. 1 card is subjected to, the visual appeal of this card is all the more impressive. This is also DiMaggio's only postwar bubble-gum card issued during his playing days (he did not allow cards of himself to be printed by Topps or Bowman), giving it even greater significance. The offered example has vibrant colors, a crisp image, and light corner wear. There are no traces of gum staining that so frequently impact 1948-1949 Leafs. This is a solid mid-grade example.
