Description

Presented is a mid-grade near-complete set of 1969-1970 Topps basketball highlighted by numerous Hall of Famers, including Jerry West, Wilt Chamberlain, John Havlicek (rookie), and Walt Frazier (rookie). Missing only the #25 Lew Alcindor rookie card for completion. This set represents Topps' first large-scale basketball effort in over a decade (since its first issue in 1957) and is extremely popular with collectors due to its size, design, and star selection. Condition is 16% Ex to Ex-Mt (mostly Ex), 74% Vg to Vg-Ex, and 10% lesser. Many of the cards in this set display smoothed out corners from one-time storage in screw-down holders. Keys: #1 Chamberlain (Vg+), 2 Goodrich RC (Vg+), 10 Thurmond RC (Vg-Ex), 15 Hawkins RC (95/5 T/B, otherwise Ex), 20 Havlicek RC (Vg-Ex), 35 Baylor (Vg-Ex), 40 Cunningham RC (Vg+), 43 Bradley RC (Vg-Ex), 44 Wilkens (Vg-Ex), 45 Lucas RC (small mark on reverse, otherwise Vg), 50 Robertson (Vg-Ex), 55 Bing RC (Gd due to small tear of right edge), 56 Unseld RC (Vg), 60 Reed RC (0/100 T/B, otherwise Vg), 75 Hayes RC (Vg-Ex), 80 Monroe RC (Vg), 85 DeBusschere RC (Vg-Ex), 90 West (Vg), 98 Frazier RC (Vg), and 99 Checklist (marked, otherwise Vg). This is a very attractive and consistent mid-grade near-complete set (minus one) of this significant and popular early Topps basketball issue. Total: 98 cards.
