Presented is a near-complete set of 1910 T219 Champion Pugilists consisting of forty-five different cards (out of fifty in the set). Missing the following five cards for completion: Coulon, Donahoe, Johnson, Ketchel, and Welch. Included are two duplicates (Brannigan and Battling Nelson). Seven cards feature advertising for Miner's Extra tobacco on the reverse while the remaining forty feature Honest Long Cut. The T219 set depicts boxers exclusively and is one of the most popular sets among boxing-card collectors; it is similar in design to the T218 and T220 issues of the era, which also feature various athletes and prizefighters. Condition is 15% Vg or slightly better, 21% Gd, and 64% Pr to Fr. Two cards have been professionally graded and encapsulated by PSA. Keys: Attell (Gd+), Corbett (Gd+), Driscoll (Pr-Fr), Jeanette (VG 3), Jeffries (Pr), Klaus (Pr, Miner's Extra), Langford (Pr, Miner's Extra), McFarland (Gd), Moran (Vg), two Battling Nelson (both Pr), Nitchie (VG-EX 4, holder is lightly scratched), O'Brien (Pr, Miner's Extra), and Wolgast (Vg). Compared to baseball cards of the era, these early boxing cards, which are at least as scarce, represent a particularly outstanding value. This is a very presentable medium- to lower-grade near-complete set of this classic tobacco-card boxing set from the early twentieth century. Total: 47 cards (near set of 45 plus two duplicates).
