Lot # 1195: 1955 Bowman Partial Set (243/320) with 24 Hall of Famers Including #202 Mickey Mantle

Very attractive partial set of 1955 Bowman baseball cards consisting of 243 different cards (out of 320), highlighted by twenty-four Hall of Famers, including Mickey Mantle, Hank Aaron, and Willie Mays. Also includes both variations of the two Ernie Johnson cards (#101 and 157). The 1955 Bowman cards (the company's final baseball-card issue) have always been very popular due to their classic television design and inclusion of so many stars. The flush-to-the-border wood-grain design of this issue makes them very susceptible to corner and edge wear. Condition is 16% Ex-Mt to Nr/Mt, 58% Vg-Ex to Ex, and 26% Gd to Vg (including a couple slightly lesser and fifteen that measure small). We have selected four cards for grading and encapsulation by SGC.
