Lot # 1611: High-Grade 1970 Topps Super Complete Set (42)

Presented is a complete 42-card 1970 Topps Super set, highlighted by many Hall of Famers and stars including Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, and Roberto Clemente. Included are two mid-grade duplicates (#25 and 33 Gibson). Condition of the set is Nr/Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt (including a few bordering on Mint), with five lesser. Keys: #8 Bench (Nr/Mt+), 12 Clemente (Nr/Mt), 18 Mays (Nr/Mt+), 24 Aaron (centered to the upper-right, otherwise Nr/Mt+), 28 Jackson (wax on reverse, otherwise Nr/Mt-Mt), 34 Rose (Vg due to chip of paper loss on left edge of reverse), 37 F. Robinson SP (wax on reverse, otherwise Nr/Mt+), and 38 Powell SP (Nr/Mt). Because of their scarcity relative to other Topps sets of the era, it is a little surprising that this issue has not received more attention from collectors, but this is primarily because for many years grading companies did not have holders for this large-format issue. This is no longer the case, and collectors can now build sets of these cards in graded form just like they've done for many years with standard-sized cards. An extremely attractive and mostly high-grade complete set with several notable highlights. Total: 44 cards (set of 42 plus two duplicates).
