Lot # 191: 1910 E105 Mello-Mint Gum John Knight SGC EX+ 70

Graded EX+ 70 by SGC. High-grade sample card of 1910 E105 Mello-Mint featuring John Knight (misidentified as Jack by SGC) of New York Highlanders (Yankees). The E105 Mello-Mint set is one of the rarest of all 1910-era candy-card issues. Because Mello-Mints are printed on such thin stock, they are usually found crinkled or creased. The artwork on the John Knight card is particularly striking, colorful and detailed, making this an ideal subject for a high-grade sample. The offered card has vibrant colors, strong corners, and centering toward the left. The Mello-Mint advertisement on the back is boldly printed in green against an off-white background. E105s tend to survive in very modest condition, which makes this sample all the more noteworthy. This is an extremely high-grade sample from one of prewar-card collecting's most condition-sensitive candy-card issues.
