Lot # 2890: 1909-1913 M101-2 Detroit Tigers Team Supplement

Rarely offered example of an M101-2 Sporting News supplement featuring the 1909 American League Champion Detroit Tigers. This sepia-tone premium set was issued with the Sporting News between the years 1909 and 1913. Each premium was issued on only a single day (November 18, 1909, in this case) and is dated in the upper right or left. Their method of issue and the thin paper stock on which they are printed make these unusual and striking premiums particularly susceptible to damage. This example has a flawless image of the Tigers in formal attire. Poor condition due to a vertical fold line (which has resulted in splits along both edges), edge tears, and creasing.
