Description

This is a very attractive mid-grade complete set of 1953 Topps. This is the type of vintage set that to many collectors represents the very best value. The cards are classic, they look great, and they don't cost a fortune compared to higher-grade cards. In many cases, in the highest grades, a few commons from an early 1950s set can be valued at more than an entire set such as this, and when it comes time to selling, a set such as this will actually generate far more interest by collectors, precisely because it is more affordable. Condition is 7% Ex or better, 72% Vg to Vg-Ex, and 21% lesser (including one trimmed and one with color added). We have selected four cards for grading and encapsulation by PSA. Keys: #1 Robinson (VG 3), 10 Burgess SP (Vg), 27 Campanella (Vg), 37 Mathews (Pr-Fr due to glue on reverse), 41 Slaughter (Vg+), 43 McDougald SP (Vg-Ex), 54 Feller (Gd), 61 Wynn SP (15/85 L/R, otherwise Ex), 62 Irvin (Vg-Ex), 76 Reese (Vg+), 77 Mize (Vg), 78 Schoendienst (Vg), 81 Black SP (pencil on reverse, otherwise Gd), 82 Mantle (POOR 1), 86 Martin SP (Vg-Ex), 87 Lopat SP (Vg-Ex), 104 Berra (Vg), 114 Rizzuto (Gd), 119 Sain SP (Ex+), 138 Kell (Ex), 147 Spahn (Ex), 149 D. DiMaggio (Vg), 151 Wilhelm SP (Vg-Ex), 162 Kluszewski SP (Vg), 191 Kiner (Gd+), 207 Ford (Gd), 220 Paige (FAIR 1.5), 228 Newhouser (Gd+), 244 Mays (FAIR 1.5), 246 Face RC (Vg), 254 Roe (Vg), 258 Gilliam RC (Vg-Ex), 263 Podres RC SP (Vg), 264 Woodling (Vg), 265 Jensen SP (Vg), 273 Haddix RC SP (Gd+), and 280 Bolling RC SP (Vg). This is a very attractive and mostly mid-grade complete set of one of card collecting's most popular issues. Total: 274 cards.
