Graded FAIR 1.5 by SGC. Classic example of one of Babe Ruth's truly great early 1920s cards. The V61 Neilson's Chocolate (Type 1) series is one of the most substantial and overlooked sets from the 1920s. This is the key card from the set and one of Ruth's earliest cards featuring him with the Yankees. The offered example displays a strong image, excellent centering, honest wear to the corners, and scattered creasing. The reverse, which features advertising for "Neilson's Big League Bars," exhibits a few spots of paper loss and a patch of a foreign substance. It is interesting to note that this card was produced utilizing the same design and image as the American Caramel E120 series. The V61 Neilson's Chocolate (Type 1) set is numbered (Ruth is #37). Issued one card per chocolate bar, Neilson's Chocolate cards are almost never found in high grade. This is a very attractive example of this classic Babe Ruth card, dating from the early 1920s (an era in which few cards sets of any quality were issued).
