Description

Official American League baseball (Barnard) featuring the signatures of eight prominent Hall of Fame players. The ball has been signed in either blue, black, or purple fountain pen by the following 14 players: Babe Ruth (sweet spot), Walter Johnson, Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx, Herb Pennock, Tony Lazzeri, Joe Cronin, Earle Combs, Joe Judge, Earl Webb, George Wiltse, Ben Chapman, George Pipgras, and Tom Oliver. While we do not know the circumstances under which this ball was signed, the players featured here were members of either the New York Yankees, Washington Senators, Boston Red Sox, or Philadelphia Athletics circa 1930. Given the fact that the signatures are penned in three different inks (blue, black, and purple), it's probable that the ball was signed at different venues and times by the various players. Regardless of its history, one thing is clear: The original recipient chose wisely when obtaining these fourteen signatures. The ball displays light soiling and a few minor surface abrasions. In Very Good to Excellent condition. This is an exceptional early Hall of Famer signed baseball made even more desirable by its fine state of preservation. Full LOA from James Spence/JSA.
