The newly discovered example presented here has been consigned directly by the family member of the original owner, who started building the set in 1952 and continued until his purchase of the last card to finish the set in 1964. One of card collecting's classics, Mantle's Topps rookie card is the key to the set, one of the most famous of all cards, and the single most popular and valuable baseball card, having recently claimed the title at $12.6 million in MINT+ condition. This example displays brilliant colors, outstanding registration, even corner wear, and centering toward the top. The reverse is clean with bold printing.
