Description

Bank check dated February 18, 1932, and signed by Orville Wright (1871-1948), in black fountain pen. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA, with the signature graded NM-MT 8. The check, drawn on The Winters National Bank & Trust Company of Dayton, Ohio, is made out to "W. W. Horlacher" in the amount of $8.75. Brothers Orville and Wilbur Wright built and flew the first manned, motor-powered heavier-than-air craft. The first flight, with Orville at the controls, took place at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, on December 17, 1903. The success of that flight paved the way for the development of larger and heavier planes shortly after. The check (8-5/8 x 3-1/8 inches) has normal bank cancellation stamps and perforations (not affecting the signature), as well as a vertical fold, a staple hole in the upper left, and minor wrinkles. In Very Good condition overall.
