Description

Official United States land grant, dated August 24, 1814, signed by James Madison (1751-1836), fourth president of the United States (1809-1817). The document, which is both printed and handwritten, grants to Henry Dillone a tract of land located in Cincinnati, Ohio. Signed by Madison in black ink and by the Commissioner of the General Land Office. Remnants of the official paper seal of the General Land Office appear in the lower left corner. The document (13.75 x 8.25 inches; visible dimensions) displays two horizontal and two vertical folds, toning, moderate staining, small edge tears, and small tears along the fold intersections. In apparent Fair condition overall. Mated and framed together with a print of Madison, a postcard featuring his home in Orange, Virginia, and a reprint of The Constitution of the United States. Full LOA from James Spence/JSA.
