Description

Official United States land grant, dated October 16, 1818, signed by James Monroe (1758-1831), fifth president of the United States (1817-1825). The document has been signed in black ink by President James Monroe and countersigned by the commissioner of the General Land Office. The official government seal, which is faded, is securely affixed in the lower-left corner. The document (12.5 x 9.5 inches; visible dimensions) has multiple folds, moderate toning throughout, and small tears along the fold intersections. In apparent Fair condition overall. Matted and framed together with a print of Monroe and a Monroe Doctrine Centennial half dollar. Total dimensions: 21 x 27 inches.
