Lot # 3273: 1956 Adventure Gum Complete Set (100) with 20 PSA- and SGC-Graded Cards Including Rare Max Schmeling PSA EX 5

Complete 100-card set of 1956 Adventure Gum, including the key, rare card #86 Max Schmeling graded PSA EX 5. This unusual and scarce issue includes a wide variety of sport and nonsport subjects, with a particular focus on famous boxing champions. The key card in the set, the controversial #86 Schmeling, has always been rumored to be pulled from the set early in distribution because of the swastika that appears in the background. Though this story has never been confirmed, Schmeling is the only rare card in the set, and most sets are offered without the Schmeling card. Condition is 40% Nr/Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt (including a couple Mint), 45% Ex to Ex-Mt, and 15% Vg to Vg-Ex. Twenty cards have been professionally graded and encapsulated by PSA (7) and SGC (13).
