Description

Presented are two of the six package-design cards featuring St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Famer Stan Musial from his 1955 Rawlings Glove Box series, each professionally graded and encapsulated by PSA. Although Musial did not have an active contract with mainstream card manufacturers like Bowman and Topps from 1954 to 1957, he did maintain several endorsement deals, including one with Rawlings. While kids could not find a baseball card of Stan Musial packaged with Topps or Bowman bubble gum in 1955, if one purchased a Rawlings Stan Musial model glove, you were rewarded with an entire set of Stan Musial cards! Six cards featuring Musial in a black-and-white photo set against a blue background were designed onto the sides of glove boxes and intended to be cut out and collected by children. The cards vary in size depending on their location on the box and bear the tagline "A Rawlings Trading Card" underneath the image of Musial. This lot consists of the following: #1A Portrait with bat (PSA Authentic) and 2A Portrait (PSA POOR 1 [MK]). Total: 2 cards.
