Description

Original photo of Willie Mays and Don Mueller as members of the New York Giants in 1954. Encapsulated and certified as an original Type I photograph by PSA/DNA. Per the original news caption on the reverse, Mueller is indicating to Mays just how close he came to besting him for the 1954 National League batting title. Mays led the league with a .345 batting average, edging Mueller, who finished just behind him at .342. In addition to the caption, the reverse also features an "Oct 4, 1954" date stamp and a "United Press International" credit stamp. The photo, which has been trimmed to its current dimensions of 7-1/8 x 9 inches, is in Very Good to Excellent condition overall..
