Presented is a very attractive complete set of 1960 Leaf cards, including both variations of #25 Jim Grant, and two of the three variations of #58 Hal Smith, for a total of 146 cards. Leaf packaged these glossy black-and-white cards with marbles in an attempt to navigate contract terms with players, which dictated that only Topps could issue cards of modern ballplayers with bubble gum. Condition is 59% Nr/Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt, 32% Ex to Ex-Mt, and 9% Vg to Vg-Ex (mostly Vg-Ex). Seven cards have been professionally graded and encapsulated by PSA. Keys: #1 Aparicio (Vg-Ex), 25a Grant/white cap (Nr/Mt-Mt), 25b Grant/dark cap (Ex-Mt), 27 B. Robinson (Nr/Mt+), 37 Snider (MINT 9), 58a Smith/team and position on back (Nr/Mt+), 58b Smith/team blackened out on back (Ex), 69 Wilhelm (Ex-Mt+), 89 (MINT 9), 94 Baseball’s Two Hal Smiths (Ex+), 103 (MINT 9), 125 Anderson (NM 7), 128 Cepeda (NM-MT 8), 141 Flood (MINT 9), and 144 Bunning (NM 7). One of the era’s most unusual and interesting issues! The SMR value for just the seven PSA-graded cards is $1,085. Total: 146 cards (set of 144 plus two variations).
