Presented is an extraordinary ultra-high-grade, near-complete set (228 out of 233) of 1971-1972 Topps basketball cards, entirely graded and encapsulated by PSA. Missing the following six cards for completion (all offered as individual lots in this auction): #47 Cowens, 50 West, 55 Maravich, 63 Lanier, 70 Chamberlain, and 100 Alcindor. The 1971-1972 Topps set is very popular among collectors for its bright colors and funky text font, both telltale signs of an early 1970s issue. The set is loaded with stars and Hall of Famers, including Oscar Robertson and John Havlicek, and rookie cards of Rick Barry, Larry Brown, and Dan Issel. This was also the first year that Topps included cards of American Basketball Association (ABA) players.
