Rarely offered complete 88-disc set of the 1979 Wiffle Ball baseball series presented in twelve assembled complete boxes and an uncut sheet (composed of the ball & bat header sleeves). Hall of Famers and stars in this set include Bench, Brett, Carew, Carlton, Fisk, Garvey, R. Jackson, Munson, Parker, Rice, Rose, Ryan, Schmidt, Seaver, Stargell, and Yastrzemski. Wiffle Ball, the popular backyard game for decades, featured discs on both the outer (3 players) and inside (2 players) panels of the boxes in 1979 that were designed to be hand-cut by youngsters. The 12-box subset is composed of three different size Wiffle balls (one Junior, eight Regulation, and three Softball). This group includes three regulation and three softball size Wiffle balls still in the box. Very few sets have survived in this original form. The condition of the disc portion of the boxes is Nr/Mt overall, with a few lesser (junior and two softball discs have creases). There is, as is to be expected, minor wear or creases on the non-card areas of the boxes. Seven boxes have price stickers affixed to the lids. The remaining twenty-eight discs to complete the set appeared as two-players on Wiffle's "bat & ball" packaging header sleeve, which are presented here in uncut sheet form. The sheet (36 x 44 inches), which features two complete subsets of header sleeves (14 different each), has an overall Good appearance with imperfections, including creases and moderate edge and corner wear, all of which are common when dealing with large uncut sheets. A few small tears are visible on the right edge. Despite these condition flaws, the sheet displays nicely with bold, bright colors. Also included are eight flattened duplicate Regulation boxes (two different, six including Parker and two including Rice) and one duplicate Junior box (missing one player panel). This is an extremely attractive complete set (in ideal complete-box and uncut sheet form) of these unusual, scarce, and underrated 1970s package-design cards. Total: 21 boxes (12 different and nine duplicates) plus uncut sheet. The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot.
