Description

Presented is a collection of seventy-nine different 1950 Bowman baseball cards, highlighted by thirteen Hall of Famers, including Ted Williams, Yogi Berra, and Roy Campanella. The 1950 Bowman set is often overlooked by collectors simply because it does not include a Mantle or Mays rookie, but this was a landmark set in its day, being the first postwar baseball issue to feature full-color artwork instead of photographs. Condition is 15% Nr/Mt or slightly better, 36% Ex to Ex-Mt, 36% Vg to Vg-Ex, and 13% lesser. We have selected four cards for grading and encapsulation by SGC. Keys: #1 Parnell RC (Gd), 8 Kell (Gd), 10 Henrich (Nr/Mt), 19 Spahn (Gd), 21 Reese (Vg-Ex), 28 Thomson (Vg-Ex+), 33 Kiner (Vg-Ex+), 37 Appling (Ex+), 39 Doby (Vg-Ex), 40 Lemon (NM 7), 43 Doerr (Vg), 46 Berra (EX/NM+ 6.5), 56 Crandall RC (Nr/Mt), 58 Furillo (Vg-Ex), 59 Branca (Ex), 62 Kluszewski (Vg-Ex), 71 Schoendienst (EX/NM 6), 75 Campanella (Fr), 98 Williams (VG/EX 4), and 129 Gordon (Pr-Fr). Missing the following 173 cards for completion: #4, 6 Feller, 11 Rizzuto, 22 Robinson, 23 Newcombe, 31, 32 Roberts, 35 Slaughter, 77 Snider, 79, 80, 81, 82, 83, 84 Ashburn, 85, 86, 89, 90, 91, 92, 93, 94 Boudreau, 95, 96, 97, 99, 100, 101, 102, 103, 104, 105, 106, 107, 108, 109, 110, 111, 112 Hodges, 113, 114, 115, 116, 117, 118, 119, 120, 121, 124, 125, 126, 127, 130, 131, 132, 133, 134, 135, 136, 137, 138, 139 Mize, 140, 143-195 (including 148 Wynn), and 197-252 (including 217 Stengel, 219 Bauer, 220 Durocher, and 229 Frisch). This is a very attractive, mostly mid- to high-grade collection of one of the most important and classic of all early Bowman issues. Total: 79 cards.
