Description

Collection of 33 single-signed baseballs consisting exclusively of former New York Giants players from the 1951 National League Championship team (players/coaches/manager). This collection is highlighted by Willie Mays, Monte Irvin, Leo Durocher (manager), and many other tough-to-find signees. Unless otherwise noted, all the signatures appear on the sweet spot of an official Major or National League baseball (except for three American League) dating from the 1980s or later (except for one Harridge and two Giles balls). The signatures have been scripted in a variety of inks. Seventeen of the offered baseballs have full JSA LOAs while eleven others have basic certification from JSA or PSA/DNA. Most of the balls have varying degrees of age toning. Otherwise all are in Excellent or better condition overall (two lesser). In this auction we are offering two other New York Giants signed baseball collections, one from the 1954 WS Championship and one from various years spanning the 1950s. This collection consists of the following: George Bamberger ("1951 Giants"), Al Corwin, Al Dark, Leo Durocher, Herman Franks, Allen Gettel (side panel, personalized, "Cleveland Indians Won 3-2 June 20th, 1947"), Red Hardy, Clint Hartung ("1951 NY Giants"), Jim Hearn, Monte Irvin, Larry Jansen, Sheldon Jones, Spider Jorgensen, Monty Kennedy (side panel), Alex Konikowski ("1954 Giants"), Dave Koslo (side panel), Jack Kramer ("St. Louis Browns 1944"), Whitey Lockman, Jack Lohrke, Sal Maglie (side panel, "Sal the Barber"), Jack Maguire, Willie Mays, Don Mueller ("N.Y. Giants, 1954 World Champs, 1951 NL Champs"), Ray Noble ("51 Giants"), Bill Rigney, Frank Shellenback, George Spencer ("1951 NL Champs"), Eddie Stanky, Bobby Thomson, Wes Westrum, Davey Williams, Artie Wilson, and Sal Yvars. Total: 33 signed baseballs. Auction LOA from James Spence/JSA. The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot.
