Lot # 1740: 1971 Topps Super Complete Set (63)

Presented is a complete 63-card 1971 Topps Super set, highlighted by many Hall of Famers and stars including Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, and Roberto Clemente. Includes two duplicates (#4 and 11 Oliva). Condition is 36% Nr/Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt, 32% Ex to Ex-Mt, and 32% Vg to Vg-Ex (including four lesser). Keys: #20 Rose (Pr-Fr), 37 Clemente (Vg-Ex), 38 Jackson (Vg+), 44 Aaron (Nr/Mt), and 56 Mays (wax on reverse, otherwise Nr/Mt). Because of their high-quality production values and scarcity relative to other Topps sets of the era, it is a little surprising that this issue has not received more attention from collectors, but this is primarily because, for many years, grading companies did not have holders for this large-format issue. This is no longer the case, and collectors can now build sets of these cards in graded form just like they've done for many years with standard-sized cards. An attractive and mostly mid- to high-grade complete set with several notable highlights. Total: 65 cards (set of 63 plus two duplicates).
