Description

Ticket stub (5.25 x 2 inches) issued for Game 1 of the 1988 World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Oakland Athletics held at Dodger Stadium on October 15th. Kirk Gibson provided fans with one of the most dramatic game-winning home runs in baseball history in Game 1 of the 1988 Fall Classic between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Oakland Athletics. In what would be his only Series appearance, Gibson came to the plate as a pinch-hitter with two out and one on in the bottom of the ninth inning with the Dodgers trailing 4-3. Hobbled with a foot injury and unable to barely walk, Gibson fouled off numerous pitches against relief ace Dennis Eckersley before launching a home run into the right field seats. The Dodgers then went on to upset the heavily favored A’s in five games. Excellent to Near Mint condition overall.
