Graded VG 3 by PSA. Outstanding mid-grade example of Brazilian soccer legend Pelé's most desirable rookie card from the 1958 Alifabolaget series. This 35-card set featured players and team cards from all four finalists of the 1958 World Cup and was issued in Sweden to commemorate the country's hosting of the event. Pelé, captured here in the blue jersey Brazil wore in the final, was the tournament's breakout star. At just 17 years old, Pelé became the youngest player to score in a World Cup, a record that stands to this day. He scored in all three of Brazil's knockout stage games, including two goals in the 5-2 final win over Sweden. The offered card displays a bright and crisp image of Pelé and even wear to the corners. The text on the reverse, printed in Swedish, translates to "Pelé, left winger, the WC tournament’s youngest player at the age of 17. Perhaps not so strange that he cried when the WC final was won against Sweden. Has received many professional offers but remains in Brazil for the time being.” Marking one of Pelé's earliest appearances on a trading card, this example would make a tremendous addition to any world-class Pelé or soccer collection.
