Lot # 2763: 1935 Muratti Cigarettes #49 Jesse Owens Rookie PSA GOOD 2

Graded GOOD 2 by PSA. Very attractive example of Jesse Owen's rookie card from the 1935 Muratti Cigarettes series. Owens' rookie card is the key card from this multisport German set. Owens, who was the fastest man alive during the 1930s, is best remembered for his remarkable performance in the 1936 Olympics, held in Berlin, Germany. Owens won four gold medals (100 meters, 200 meters, long jump, and 4x100 meter relay), the most by any athlete, and in doing so helped discredit Hitler's doctrine of Aryan supremacy. The offered card has superb image clarity and strong corners with light touches of wear (slightly weaker bottom left). Downgraded due to extremely light glue residue along the reverse. An appealing example of this desirable card.
