M101-2 Sporting News supplement featuring the legendary Joe Jackson. This sepia-toned premium set was issued with the Sporting News between the years 1909 and 1913. Each premium was issued on only a single day and is dated in the upper right or left. Their method of issue and the thin paper stock on which they are printed make these unusual and striking premiums particularly susceptible to damage. This is the key to the M101-2 set and one of only a handful of vintage Joe Jackson issues. The Jackson premium was issued on March 23, 1911, and features the future Black Sox legend with the Cleveland Americans. The supplement has a beautiful image of Jackson in a fielding pose. Encapsulated as Authentic Altered by PSA (submitted by REA) due to being trimmed along multiple edges. Additional flaws include staining, edge tears, and multiple pieces of tape affixed to the reverse. A fantastic opportunity to acquire one of only a few card-related items of Jackson dating from his playing days. Dimensions: approximately 7-7/8 x 9-3/4 inches.
