Description

Outstanding collection of nine complete sets of Kellogg's baseball cards, spanning the years 1972 to 1979, for a total of 462 cards. Throughout the 1970s and early 1980s, the Kellogg's cereal company was the only true competition for Topps in the baseball-card market. These sets include cards of Willie Mays, Roberto Clemente, Nolan Ryan, Tom Seaver, Reggie Jackson, and Pete Rose. All the other stars of the day are also included. Of course, instead of having to buy only a stick of gum to get a stack of cards, you had to buy an entire box of cereal just to get one card (unless you sent in for a set by mail). This collection consists of the following: 1) 1972 Kellogg's Complete Set (54): Condition is Nr/Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt overall, with a few Ex-Mt and two lesser due to cracking. Keys: #1 Seaver (Ex-Mt), 6 Rose (Ex-Mt), 20 Jackson (35/65 T/B, otherwise Nr/Mt-Mt), 49 Clemente (Nr/Mt-Mt), and 54 Mays (Fr due to cracking). 2) 1972 Kellogg's All-Time Greats Complete Set (15): Condition is Nr/Mt-Mt to Mint overall, with a couple Nr/Mt and one lesser due to a very small surface crack. 3) 1973 Kellogg's Complete Set (54): Condition is 57% Nr/Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt, 28% Ex to Ex-Mt, and 15% Vg-Ex or slightly lesser. Keys: #6 Rose (Ex) and 16 Ryan (Vg-Ex+). 4) 1974 Kellogg's Complete Set (54): Condition ranges from Nr/Mt to Mint (averaging Nr/Mt-Mt), with a couple lesser. Keys: #8 Ryan (Gd due to cracking), 28 Bench (Mint), and 38 Rose (Mint). 5) 1974 Kellogg's Complete Set (54): Condition is 77% ranging from Nr/Mt to Mint (averaging Nr/Mt-Mt) and 23% lesser due to cracking Keys: #8 Ryan (Gd due to cracking), 28 Bench (Ex-Mt), and 38 Rose (Nr/Mt-Mt). 6) 1976 Kellogg's Complete Set (57): Condition is 60% ranging from Ex-Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt (averaging Nr/Mt) and 40% lesser due to cracking. Keys: #19 Eckersley (Nr/Mt) and 55 Rose (Fr due to cracking). 7) 1977 Kellogg's Complete Set (57): Condition ranges from Nr/Mt to Mint (averaging Nr/Mt-Mt). Keys: #6 Brett (Nr/Mt) and 20 Rose (Nr/Mt+). 8) 1978 Kellogg's Complete Set (57): Condition ranges from Nr/Mt to Mint (averaging Nr/Mt-Mt). Keys: #6 Brett (Nr/Mt-Mt), 25 Murray (Nr/Mt-Mt), and 51 Ryan (Mint). 9) 1979 Kellogg's Complete Set (60): Condition ranges from Ex to Nr/Mt-Mt (averaging Ex-Mt), with a couple lesser. Keys: #22 Rose (Ex-Mt) and 50 Brett (Ex-Mt). This is a very impressive collection of cards from this classic food issue. Total: 9 sets, 462 cards.
