Description

Extremely rare near-complete set (17/22) of 1932 New York Giants ticket office schedule postcards. Each features on-the-field poses of Giants players, with the player's 1931 statistics and advertisements for "Ladies Admitted Free Every Friday" at the Polo Grounds below, and with the Giants 1932 "Games At Home" schedule on the reverse. These postcards were published just prior to the 1932 baseball season for distribution by the Giants ticket office. Twenty-two subjects are checklisted in The Standard Catalog. One of the most interesting aspects of this set is that every card is incredibly rare, with the exception of Carl Hubbell (not included in this collection). Hubbell is actually very common and, were it not for the many hundreds of Carl Hubbell cards from this set in collector's hands, collectors would be almost entirely unfamiliar with this issue. This is only the third time we have offered a collection of "non-Hubbell" 1932 Giants schedule cards in our auction. This collection includes 17 of the 22 known players, missing only Fitzsimmons, Hubbell, O'Farrell, Ott, and Terry for completion. Condition is Vg to Vg-Ex overall, with one Ex, three Gd, and one lesser. This collection consists of the following: Allen, Bell, Critz, Fullis, Sam Gibson, Healey, Hogan, Travis Jackson (Gd-Vg, HOF), Koenecke, Leslie, Lindstrom (Vg-Ex+, HOF), Luque, Mitchell, Mooney, Parmelee, Vergez, and Bill Walker. This is an extraordinary collection of these very rare regionally issued 1932 New York Giants ticket office postcards. "Minden Press, Inc., N. Y." appears on the reverse of each card. All are not addressed or mailed. Dimensions: 3.5 x 5.5 inches each. Total: 17 postcards.
