Complete set of this rare 1930s gum card set issued by National Chicle that features famous pilots and airplanes of the day. Condition is 8% Vg-Ex, 52% Gd to Vg, and 40% lesser (including one trimmed and a couple that measure small). Keys: #1 Putnam (Vg), 20 Rickenbacker (Vg), 23 Von Richthofen (Vg), 32 Doolittle (Pr), 36 Lindbergh (color added, otherwise Pr-Fr due to small marks on the reverse), 48 Earhart (Pr-Fr, "Series of 144"), 49 Wright (Pr-Fr), and 72 Spirit of St. Louis (Fr). All card numbers from 25 to 48 are "Series of 48" back variations except for #48 ("Series of 144"). The set is accompanied by an original one-cent wrapper, which offers a very presentable appearance while technically grading Fair due to heavy creasing and small tears. This is a very presentable medium- to lower-grade complete set of this classic 1930s nonsport issue. Total: 108 cards plus wrapper.
