Lot # 3179: 1936 D52 "Adventures of Mickey Mouse" Collection (75) Including Two Original Recipe Scrap Books

Many companies throughout history aimed the marketing of their products to catch the attention of children. Bread companies were no different, using advertising cards or bread labels with popular characters to sway buying decisions. Since arriving in popular culture, Disney characters, in particular Mickey Mouse, have always been at the forefront of advertising to children. Presented is a collection of seventy-five 1936 D52 "Adventures of Mickey Mouse" recipe cards, seventy of which are glued into two original "Mickey Mouse Recipe Scrap Books," as intended. Each 4.25 x 2.75-inches paper-thin card shows a scene with Mickey Mouse, and several include Minnie Mouse and/or Pluto as well. The card backs have an advertisement for different brands of bread, and some contain recipes in addition to a bread company advertisement. This collection consists of the following: 1) 1936 D52 "Adventures of Mickey Mouse" (5 cards): "Here's Mickey the Cowboy" (Fr, Bell and Dinner Pail Breads), "Mickey Found One of the Orphan..." (Pr, Bell and Dinner Pail Breads), "Off to the Fishing Pond" (top of card torn off, Peter Pan Bread), "The Reason Mickey Can Run So Fast..." (Fr, Bell and Dinner Pail Breads), and "Well, Here's Pluto..." (Pr-Fr, Bell and Dinner Pail Breads). 2) "Mickey Mouse Recipe Scrap Book" containing forty-three D52 cards: The booklet is in Good condition due to creasing and a tear along the saddle stitch binding. The tops of the cards are glued into the booklet, otherwise ranging in appearance from Vg to Ex (averaging Vg-Ex), with a few lesser. 3) "Mickey Mouse Recipe Scrap Book" containing twenty-seven D52 cards: The booklet is in Very Good to Excellent condition. The tops of the cards are glued into the booklet, otherwise ranging in appearance from Vg-Ex to Ex-Mt (averaging Ex), with a few lesser. An impressive collection of this rare vintage Disney issue.
